These two months went by fast. Looking back at HW1 (Hangman), I’d keep the same basic approach but tidy it up. The big change would be writing clearer, more helpful comments as I go. I’d put a tiny header at the top of each file (what it does, my name, date) and sprinkle short notes only where the logic isn’t obvious. I actually scored 49/50 on that assignment and lost the point for comments/headers, so that’s the first thing I’m fixing.
Two wins I’m proud of: first, I don’t panic at error messages anymore. I slow down, read what it says, and try one thing at a time. That alone saved me a lot of time. Second, the basics feel more natural now—working with classes and methods, loops, Strings, and ArrayLists. I can get from idea to code faster than I could at the start. I’ll add a bonus win: Git isn’t so scary. I’m more comfortable committing, pulling, and keeping my work organized.
Areas where I’ve grown: breaking problems into smaller steps, naming things more clearly so the code reads better, and being consistent with formatting. I also double-check inputs and edge cases more than before, which prevents silly bugs. Most of all, I’m more patient with myself—I take a breath, try something simple, and keep moving.
For Project 02, my plan is simple and realistic: write as I build (not after), add a short header to every file, leave quick comments where the code might confuse a future reader (including me), and keep making small, steady progress. If I do that, I’ll finish strong and won’t lose that easy point again.
