Part 1: Help Your Teammates to Develop Capstone Ideas
We had a casual team chat this week to kick around some ideas for our capstone project. Nothing’s set in stone yet—we’re still tossing ideas around—but a few stood out. A couple of us are more into front-end work like user interfaces, while others are better with backend systems. It’s clear we all bring something different to the table, so we talked about ways we might combine our strengths if we decide to work together.
A few ideas that came up were things like robo-advisors for shopping, APIs, and some cybersecurity-related tools. Nothing’s been decided yet—we all agreed that our ideas need a bit more time to develop before we settle on something. We're also not sure if we’ll be doing a group project or if each of us will work independently. If we do end up collaborating, we think blending our different skill sets could really work to our advantage.
Part 2: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal
From this week’s activities, I’ve learned how important it is to not only have a good idea, but to also think about how it can be realistic and meaningful—either for yourself or for others. I really enjoyed looking through the career guide and thinking more seriously about the kind of work I want to focus on.
Honestly, I might go with something in cybersecurity. I’ve always been kind of curious about it, and this seems like a good time to finally mess around with it a bit more. I’ve also enjoyed working with data, so I’m thinking there might be a way to mix both—maybe build something that helps analyze threats or improve digital safety. I don’t want to just make something that works; I want it to actually be useful for others too. If I can improve an existing tool or concept and make it more practical, that would be a win for me.
As a team, we also split up responsibilities for our final video presentation. We haven’t started recording yet, but at least we’ve mapped out who’s covering what. That’s a good first step, and I think once we start putting everything together, it’ll go smoothly.
