Week 1

This first week of CSUMB’s CST300 certainly has been a busy week, but I learned about a lot of things, especially about CSUMB and the program. I think it is good that we take some time to learn more about the university we are attending, especially because we are in an online program. It can easily get lost that we are part of a university and not just a list of deadlines and assignments on Canvas. I know that happened to me in my first two years because I took most of my courses online and one or two courses in the classroom. When I went to the graduation ceremony, it was actually really strange being there because it felt like I was actually just going back to campus for the first time.

I also was able to connect with my teammates a bit in the week.
One teammate is actually my sister, so I knew her pretty well already, but it was still fun to learn about our other teammate and just general shared experiences in our lives. I think it helps to feel like you are working with actual real people and not just a group project with peoples names on it.

I'm also doing my industry analysis. I started to research companies that I would like to work for in the future, specifically in the cyber security field. I have known for a while that cyber security was the field I wanted to go into, but I realized I did not actually know much about the companies involved.
Doing this research has made me feel more focused and, more importantly, has made me feel informed.

I have not started my intro video yet - I plan to do it today or tomorrow. To be honest I am not a fan of being on camera, and I find that I usually feel awkward during video activities.
But I will push through it.

This week we also learned about the OLI, and I watched that funny video on how not to have a team meeting. It did actually make what is expected from us clearer in terms of group activities, so I am glad we watched it.

I also completed 3 quizzes this week. I think one of the questions may have an error, but they were not too terrible overall. Excited for whats next.
